Out of the 230 companies that have benefited from the MFED Morocco program (Sustainable Energy Financing Mechanism), 16 Moroccan investments in sustainable energy have been awarded by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).
The ceremony took place on April 2, 2019 in Casablanca, writes the newspaper Aujourd’hui le Maroc in its April 3 edition.
Launched by the EBRD, in partnership with the European Investment Bank (EIB), the French Development Agency (AFD) and the German bank KFW, the program highlights the MORSEF financing line, worth 110 million euros granted to the beneficiary companies, technical assistance, as well as a grant provided by the European Union.
"The European Union is pleased to provide financial support to the MFED Morocco, which, through its results, has managed to convince the Moroccan industry. This program has also opened up new possibilities for local banks, which have been able to innovate by creating green projects," says the deputy head of the EU delegation to Morocco, Alessio Capellani.
And still according to Aujourd’hui le Maroc, quoting Marie-Alexandra Veilleux-Laborie, EBRD director in Morocco, "With partner banks, we have demonstrated the merits of investing in more efficient technologies that also contribute to reducing greenhouse gas emissions, helping more than 230 companies to reduce their energy consumption, reduce their costs and improve their competitiveness."
Models of exceptional decisions, the 16 awarded investments presented state-of-the-art technical solutions in the agriculture, hospitality and processing sectors as well as other sectors.
