EasyJet Resumes Flights Between Morocco's Essaouira and Bordeaux, France

The airline EasyJet has decided to reopen the air route connecting Essaouira to the French city of Bordeaux. A first flight was operated on Sunday.

After the suspension of traffic in 2020 due to Covid-19, EasyJet wants to strengthen its offer for the end of the year, thus offering two weekly frequencies to its customers, according to a press release from the airport infrastructure, according to which the first passengers arrived on Sunday at the Essaouira-Mogador International Airport.

For Arhjoul Mohammed, Acting Commander of Essaouira-Mogador International Airport, during the period from June 15 to the end of last September, more than 12,700 passengers were welcomed through 120 international flights, i.e. a recovery rate compared to the same period in 2019 of 45% for passengers and 61% for airport movements.

He added that "several other air routes will be relaunched as part of the 2021-2022 winter program, in particular the routes connecting Essaouira with London or with the French city of Marseille, which will be operated by the Ryanair company, in addition to an air route connecting Essaouira to Paris, operated by the airline Transavia."

Before the first flight on Sunday from Bordeaux, the airport welcomed another Ryanair airline plane (two frequencies per week), with around 155 passengers on board, coming for the first time from Charleroi airport and replacing Brussels-Zaventem airport.

These two flights to and from Essaouira, the official recalls, are likely to further strengthen the air connectivity of the Windy City and boost its tourist appeal.
