Earth’s Radical Makeover: France and Morocco to Become Neighbors in 250 Million Years

Geographically, France will move closer to Morocco in 250 million years. This is what geologists predict.
According to geologists, the Earth will form a new supercontinent, called Pangea Ultima, in 250 million years. This inevitable movement will lead, in 250 million years, to the fusion of the continental masses into a single immense block: Pangea Ultima, says Christopher Scotese, geographer and designer of the PALEOMAP project. The progressive approach of the Americas towards Africa and Eurasia will make the Atlantic Ocean disappear. As for the Indian Ocean, it will become an inland sea, surrounded by territories that are now familiar but radically transformed. Cuba will merge with the United States. Korea "will find itself caught between China and Japan, and Greenland will be attached to Canada."
This geographical upheaval will have advantages for France. Indeed, it could find itself in a privileged position, at "the crossroads of territories now separated by thousands of kilometers," reports Presse-citron. The collision of the plates will lead to the disappearance of the Mediterranean, which will bring France closer to North Africa. According to geologists, the French borders could thus border not only Spain, Portugal or Italy, but also Morocco, Algeria or Tunisia.
Another consequence of this geographical upheaval: the temperatures will be too high to allow the survival of mammals, including humans. The formation of Pangea Ultima will result in intense volcanic activity, responsible for a massive increase in carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, reveals a study published in the journal Nature. Temperatures could exceed 40°C over most of the supercontinent as well as widespread aridity, exacerbated by a Sun 2.5% brighter than today. Certain parts of North Africa could be among the few still habitable territories in this new world, alongside France, the United Kingdom and Portugal.
