Dubai School Apologizes After Demanding $170,000 in Tuition Fees from Parent

The director of the Keltoum school profusely apologized after forcing a parent to pay 625,000 dirhams in tuition fees.
In an official statement addressed to the public and parents of students at the Keltoum establishment, the director said he regretted the behavior he had towards the family of the student concerned. A behavior, he assured, "dictated by exasperation, anger and the tension induced by the last few months and this particular back-to-school period." The director also assured that the school staff will be attentive to the expectations of parents and open to dialogue.
According to the same source, these official apologies from the director come following the outrage expressed on social networks by many people, including the former Istiqlali minister Karim Ghellab. On his Facebook page, the politician declared that "this kind of event is a clear symbol of the state of lethargy from which education suffers and which is nothing other than a natural result of the abandonment of the State." He goes further by stating that "the State leaves citizens unprotected, exposed to predatory animals who commercially exploit the love of mothers and fathers for their children and their fear for their future."
