Drug Trafficking Suspected in Small Plane Crash Near Morocco-Spain Border

A special unit composed of elements from the royal gendarmerie brigade of Ksar El Kebir and the provincial command of Larache are conducting investigations into the crash of a small plane. The aircraft would have been used by drug traffickers.
Investigators are trying to determine if there is a link between the crash of a small plane in the Larache region and an international drug trafficking network, reports Al Massae. The investigation reveals that the traffickers were using "Robinson R 44" helicopters to transport drugs from northern Morocco to cities in southern Spain.
According to the gendarmerie, there is a multiplication of the illicit activities of criminal networks following the appearance of the coronavirus. Traffickers are now using more sophisticated means, including aircraft equipped with night vision systems and flying at low altitudes to escape the radar systems of the security services in Morocco and Spain. Remote-controlled aircraft that fly close to wind turbines to jam the Guardia civil’s surveillance systems.
