Dozens Hospitalized After Suspected Fruit-Related Food Poisoning in Morocco

Nearly 60 people from the communes of Beni Helal and Ouled Sidi Bouhia were hospitalized on Saturday at the Provincial Hospital of Sidi Bennour following symptoms of food poisoning, according to local authorities.
The initial indications suggest that the patients would have consumed seasonal fruits bought the day before at the weekly market of Jomaat Beni Helal.
Faced with this situation, the hospital mobilized all its medical and nursing staff to care for these patients, indicates the Map. Several ambulances were also deployed to ensure the transfer of the most urgent cases. The patients are currently in stable condition, according to the hospital sources cited by the same source.
In parallel, the National Office of Food Safety (ONSSA) intervened to take samples of the incriminated fruits, in order to submit them to laboratory analyzes. The results of these tests will confirm or refute the origin of these food poisonings.
