US Donates 850,000 Pfizer Vaccines and $2 Million to Morocco’s COVID-19 Fight

On Saturday, October 30, Morocco received a batch of 850,590 doses of the American-German vaccine, Pfizer-BioNTech, from the United States as part of the Covax program. Not to mention a financial aid of 2 million dollars to support the kingdom in its efforts to fight the Covid-19 pandemic.
The reception took place at Casablanca airport, in the presence of the US Chargé d’Affaires and the US Consul General in Casablanca, Lawrence Randolph, officials from the Ministry of Health and the USAID mission director in Morocco, Brooke Isham. "In addition to these 850,590 doses of Pfizer vaccine, the United States has provided an additional $2 million in support to further bolster Morocco’s successful efforts to combat the pandemic," said Lawrence Randolph. With this new delivery, the total number of Pfizer doses received amounts to approximately 6,417,450 million. As for the total amount of US aid to the kingdom, it is around $19.88 million, the same source specifies.
This new funding will not only provide technical assistance, equipment and supplies to support Morocco in its national vaccination campaign, but will also strengthen the efforts of laboratories working on the acquisition of Covid-19 testing kits. "Protecting the lives and economic stability of Morocco are common goals in our strong partnership between our two countries. This gift of 850,000 doses of the Pfizer Covid-19 vaccine will save lives and is the result of our hard work with our Moroccan partners in the fight against the pandemic," stressed the US Consul General in Casablanca.
