I don’t want to die": The last words of a Moroccan killed by the Spanish police

The case dates back to December 7th, when Haitam Mejri lost his life in a store in Torremolinos following a police intervention. Faced with an individual described as in a state of great agitation, they would have used a Taser-type gun and restraint techniques deemed proportionate, before the man succumbed to cardiorespiratory arrest.

However, the release of several recordings strongly contradicts this narrative. The images reveal the application of multiple electric shocks and the prolonged use of physical force. Contrary to accusations of active disobedience, the victim is clearly heard begging: "I want to cooperate" or "I don’t want to die".

These major contradictions have prompted deputies to file a series of parliamentary questions. If an abusive action by trained agents is proven, responsibilities beyond simple negligence could be engaged, while the case is currently being investigated by the Spanish justice system.
