Domestic Worker Escapes Alleged Torture in Morocco, Seeks Justice

Claiming to be exploited, tortured and reduced to slavery, Kenza, a 27-year-old domestic worker from Sidi Hajjaj in Settat, managed to escape from the hands of her "tormentors" with the help of a taxi driver. She filed a complaint against her employer and is asking for justice to be done.
On Friday, Kenza underwent "right-hand surgery." An operation that lasted three hours. But her physical condition requires another operation. She will have to undergo another operation on her nose due to fractures, reports Hespress, adding that according to the doctors, the aforementioned area has been suffering from inflammation and swelling for some time. Kenza also underwent other medical examinations in order to draw up a "detailed report" on her state of health so that she can send it to a doctor. The latter will have to give her a certificate to help her in her legal proceedings.

The story of the young woman has gone viral on social media. She was employed as a domestic worker by a wealthy family after accepting a proposal made by her sister’s husband while her life was "normal." According to Kenza’s testimony, the first month was "calm." Since January 2024, the collaboration has become difficult. The 27-year-old woman recounts being harassed every day, brutalized and starved. Violence confirmed by the doctors who examined her: traces of violence and beatings dating back to a relatively old period. She also claims to have been forced to sleep "on the ground", to adopt the "dry regime of one meal a day", and to endure daily insults.
Helped by a taxi driver, Kenza managed to escape. Taken to the royal gendarmerie, she filed a complaint against her employer. She demands that justice be done. "I claim my rights... I feel wounded... They attacked me so much..."
However, in a video posted on social media, one of the relatives of the couple accused by Kenza’s relatives categorically denies the information disseminated by the young woman, exonerating the couple in question and claiming that Kenza has always had the possibility to "flee" the house if she had been a victim of abuse.
