Doctor Warns: Chloroquine for COVID-19 Requires Hospital Supervision

Asked to give his opinion on the effectiveness of chloroquine in the treatment of coronavirus, Dr. Soufiane Bentalba believes that better results are possible. But medical follow-up is mandatory.
For Soufiane Bentalba, a general practitioner in Casablanca, chloroquine can prove effective in the treatment of coronavirus. And to have better results, it is imperative that this treatment be administered in a hospital setting with rigorous medical follow-up. He reveals that Professor Raoult of the Marseille University Hospital Institute has decided to treat patients with chloroquine combined with other molecules, because he believes that chloroquine would be the antidote against COVID-19, in the absence of other alternatives. Since this announcement, many studies are looking into the effectiveness of chloroquine for the medical treatment of coronavirus patients. A study involving 3,200 patients in Europe is about to release its results.
Soufiane Bentalba believes that the prescription of chloroquine or azithromycin for the treatment of some COVID-19 patients can be justified because of the ravages the virus is causing in the world. But he insists that this treatment must be administered in a hospital setting, after a blood test and a cardiovascular examination because of the side effects that could lead to sudden death. This is why only a medical staff is authorized to submit a patient to chloroquine, reports the daily Aujourd’hui Le Maroc.
Faced with all that is being said about chloroquine, and in the search for a cure for COVID-19, the Moroccan Ministry of Health has brought together the committee of scientific experts who have developed a therapeutic protocol, with chloroquine combined with other molecules. This protocol, which is intended for the management of COVID-19 patients in a hospital setting, is based on scientific evidence.
Soufiane Bentalba emphasizes the fact that self-medication with chloroquine must be avoided. Even though the effectiveness of chloroquine is established for certain diseases, the dosage is a critical factor, even more so for COVID-19. Especially since Morocco has not yet validated or authorized the use of chloroquine for the treatment of COVID-19. Self-medication must be avoided at all costs.
