Dismantled ISIS Cell Plotted Attack to Spark Morocco-Algeria Conflict

The Daesh-linked jihadist cell recently dismantled in Morocco was planning to attack a border military post in order to provoke an armed conflict between the kingdom and Algeria.
In implementing its plan to destabilize the Maghreb, the jihadist cell, which has infrastructure and operations in the Sahel, has targeted Morocco, especially after the restoration of diplomatic relations with Israel.
According to anti-terrorism experts, several Moroccans have joined the camps of Al-Qaeda, Daesh, and AQIM in order to receive training on the use of weapons and explosives, reports La Razon. They will then be sent on a mission to Morocco to carry out terrorist attacks. In this case, these terrorists based in Oujda had the intention of attacking the army, the parliament, churches, nightclubs, tourist sites and planned to free jihadist prisoners.
"They planned to attack Moroccan soldiers and steal their weapons to use against Algerian soldiers in order to provoke a war between Morocco and Algeria," the experts said.
The cell also planned to carry out attacks against a bank to finance its activities and target the interests of the United States, a privileged partner of Morocco.
