The dirham falls against the euro

The Moroccan dirham depreciated by 0.13% against the euro and appreciated by 0.47% against the US dollar during the period from October 24 to 30, 2024, according to Bank Al-Maghrib (BAM).
During this period, no auction operation was carried out on the foreign exchange market, BAM said in its weekly bulletin.
The official reserve assets stood at 362.4 billion dirhams (MMDH) as of October 25, down 0.5% from the previous week and up 1.9% year-on-year.
As for BAM’s interventions during the week of October 24 to 30, they reached an average of 151.6 MMDH per day, including 62.6 MMDH in the form of 7-day advances, 51.8 MMDH in longer-term repurchase agreements and 37.3 MMDH in guaranteed loans.
On the stock market, the MASI appreciated by 0.5% from October 24 to 30, bringing its performance since the beginning of the year to 17.3%.
This weekly development reflects in particular the increases in the indices of the transport services sector by 5.7%, the building and construction materials sector by 1.8% and the banking sector by 0.4%.
On the other hand, the insurance and telecommunications sectors decreased by 3.4% and 2.2% respectively.
As for the weekly trading volume, it amounted to 1.5 MMDH and was mainly carried out on the central equity market.
