He dies with his wife and children in Morocco: his money has remained stuck at the embassy for three years

Lawmaker Youssef Bayazid, a member of the Progress and Socialism Party group in the House of Representatives, has contacted the Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding sums owed to the heirs of this former employee of a Saudi private company.

The man, identified by the initials A. R., worked in Saudi Arabia. In 2023, while spending his vacation in Morocco, he was killed in a traffic accident. His wife and their children also died in the tragedy.

After his death, his employer reportedly transferred all his financial entitlements to the Moroccan embassy in Riyadh. The heirs had previously submitted the required legal documents to enable the case to be settled, reports Assabah, which says it obtained a copy of the parliamentary letter.

The sums were then supposed to be sent to the Caisse de dépôt et de gestion (CDG) in Morocco, which was responsible for holding them before handing them over to the beneficiaries. Three years after the accident, this transfer reportedly still has not taken place.

The heirs do not know where the money is

According to the request sent to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the available information indicates that the funds are still being held by the services of the Moroccan embassy in Riyadh. The heirs nevertheless claim to have no precise information about their amount, their current location or the reason for the delay.

Youssef Bayazid is therefore asking the ministry to determine what happened to this money and order its swift transfer to the CDG. The aim is to allow the beneficiaries to take possession of it in accordance with the procedures laid down by Moroccan law.
