DGSN Clarifies Support for Retired Officer Following Viral Social Media Post

A few days ago, social networks were flooded with a publication attributed to a police officer who was called to exercise his retirement rights, after being the victim of a traffic accident. The General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) in a clarification explained that it has ensured that, in addition to the pension granted to him, it has provided him with substantial moral and material assistance.
The DGSN wanted to enlighten the public opinion and dispel any ambiguity that the information published on social networks and certain media could cause in this regard. In a statement published on Tuesday, the DGSN recalled that it is a former police sergeant who served within the division of official travel under the Directorate of Public Security. But on September 29, 2013, he was the victim of a traffic accident that left him with a physical disability.
Thus, in accordance with the provisions of the General Statute of the Civil Service and Articles 10 and 13 of the decree setting out the procedures for applying the provisions of said statute, relating to authorizations for health reasons, this civil servant was submitted to the Health Council and the Exemption Commission. In addition to the pension, the DGSN stressed that the Mohammed VI Foundation for the Social Works of National Security Officials covered the care costs of the latter, amounting to 104,156 dirhams. It also paid the drug bills for an estimated amount of 8,208 DH.
Similarly, the former civil servant also benefited from a disability insurance capital of 120,000 DH, an end-of-career capital of 9,807.10 DH, as well as cash assistance worth 20,000 DH in 2015 and 15,000 DH in 2016.
The DGSN granted him additional financial assistance of 10,000 DH on November 27, 2018, as well as another of 50,000 DH and a wheelchair worth 23,310 DH on November 30 of the same year. As for the insurance company, it granted him an amount of 400,000 DH as compensation for the damage caused by the traffic accident.
The DGSN explains that this clarification is to make it understood that at no time has the former civil servant lacked assistance from the department he served for many years.
