Denmark Scrambles to Repatriate Citizens Stranded in Morocco Amid Coronavirus Travel Ban

Since Morocco has decided to suspend air traffic to and from its territory, hundreds of Danes find themselves stranded, with no possibility, for the moment, of returning to Denmark.
Several international press agencies have described the current situation in Morocco, where all passenger air links have been interrupted until further notice, even as tourists from many countries can no longer leave the kingdom. France announced on the morning of Sunday, March 15 that an agreement had been reached with Morocco for French nationals to be repatriated on specially chartered flights.
Belgium, Spain and Germany have also repatriated their nationals who were on Moroccan soil. But as for Danish citizens, the embassy says it is "clarifying a number of issues with the local authorities".
The Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs explains in a statement that it has "urged Danes in Morocco to contact their travel agents, airlines or insurance companies to inquire about alternative domestic transportation and accommodation options if the Moroccan cancellation results in an extended stay".
Henrik Specht, a tour operator in Denmark, on his side, reported that contacts have been made with his clients who are in Morocco to ensure they return home. "We are in close dialogue with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs so that together we can find a good solution to bring the Danes back home," he assured.
