Delivery Driver’s Dispute with Taxi Sparks Outrage in Fez, Morocco

The teenager, employed as a Aabaya delivery man, explained that the driver had deliberately prolonged the trip instead of returning the due amount. This delay caused the cancellation of a delivery, which affected his income and credibility with his clients.

This once again highlights recurring problems in the taxi sector in Fez and other Moroccan cities. Complaints are frequently filed regarding behaviors on the part of some drivers, such as overcharging and refusal to serve the requested destinations.

Many users report cases where drivers refuse to pick them up, preferring to select trips based on their personal interests rather than respecting the service obligations. At the same time, passengers using the InDrive carpooling services have expressed concerns about their safety, due to the frequent tensions between taxi drivers and drivers of these platforms.

This situation generates daily difficulties for users, especially those who depend on taxis as their main means of transport. Testimonies of drivers who refuse short trips, demand excessive fares or insist on taking multiple passengers before starting the trip are very common in Morocco.
