US Defense Secretary Praises Morocco’s Leadership in Combating African Instability

On Friday in Rabat, US Secretary of Defense Mark Esper praised Morocco’s leadership despite the threats facing Africa. This was following a meeting he had with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita.
The Pentagon salutes the leadership of King Mohammed VI, which has enabled progress and vigor in the partnership between the United States and Morocco. This leadership is also identified with the efforts made by Morocco to repel instability on the continent. During this meeting, the two personalities expressed "their mutual concerns about the regional instability generated by violent extremist groups and by forced interference activities in the internal affairs of states," reports the MAP.
The report stressed that Mark Esper and Nasser Bourita examined "the important work carried out by the Transitional Government in Mali in order to restore constitutional order and counter the attempts of terrorists to take advantage of this situation."
The US Secretary of Defense and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Residing Abroad noted "the importance of the new ten-year defense cooperation roadmap (2020-2030) signed in Rabat on October 2, 2020, between the United States and Morocco," the same source said.
