Death Toll Rises to 18 in Moroccan Migrant Boat Tragedy off Mohammedia Coast

The toll of the Mohammedia tragedy, which occurred following the sinking of an inflatable clandestine boat carrying around fifty illegal immigration candidates, has now risen to 18 dead. It worsens the day after the discovery of two new bodies off the coast.
One was found around midnight on Thursday, and the second in the morning of Friday, October 4, reports 2M, bringing the human tragedy to 18 dead.
According to the same source, the boat that ran aground on September 28 off Mohammedia was carrying between 40 and 50 people, the majority of whom were from the Kelaât Sraghna and Brouj regions.
The day after the sinking, three survivors who had been found unconscious were evacuated to the Mohammedia Provincial Hospital for necessary care, the same media reports.
For now, the search continues to find any possible survivors. Meanwhile, seven individuals suspected in this case have been arrested. An investigation has therefore been opened to determine the circumstances of this tragedy concerning illegal migrants.
