Death Toll Rises to 7 in Libya Airstrike on Migrant Center, Moroccan Officials Report

The number of Moroccans killed in the air raid that targeted a migrant center in Tripoli, Libya, has just been revised upwards by the Moroccan Consulate in Tunis.
According to the latest figures published on Saturday, July 6, 2019 in the evening, there are 7 dead and 8 injured; the severity of the condition of the latter is not yet known. Three other Moroccan nationals are still missing. This migrant camp had about 18 of them, according to the information gathered so far by the Moroccan diplomatic representation.
"Given the volatility of the situation on the ground and the scarcity of definitive information, the toll is likely to evolve," warns the Consulate, which has been in contact with the injured to ensure their health status. In the case of the deceased, their identification is underway and contacts will then be made with their families, who remained in Morocco, with a view to repatriating them.
In fact, the Consul is working, in coordination with the competent Libyan authorities and international organizations on the spot, to take the necessary measures to facilitate the evacuation of the injured and the repatriation of the bodies of these Moroccans.
The families of the victims are invited to contact the two cells set up, either by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (00212613500678) or by the Moroccan Consulate General in Tunis (0021698765801).
