Deadly Week on Moroccan Roads: 19 Killed in Traffic Accidents, DGSN Reports

Moroccan roads have killed again last week, 19 people died in accidents, announces the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN).
In the period from March 4 to 10, 19 people were killed and 2,091 were injured, including 72 seriously, in 1,568 traffic accidents that occurred in urban areas.
The causes of these accidents are known, laments the DGSN, citing for example: "the inattention of pedestrians and drivers, the non-compliance with traffic lights and stop signs, the lack of vehicle control, the non-respect of priority, speeding, driving on the left lane and in the wrong direction, driving under the influence of alcohol, unauthorized lane changes and defective overtaking".
During the same week, the police issued "37,593 tickets and drew up 11,803 reports that were submitted to the public prosecutor’s office, while 25,790 transaction fines were paid" by motorists.
In total, the police impounded more than 4,200 vehicles, seized 7,337 documents, removed 174 vehicles from circulation and collected more than 5.8 million dirhams.
