Deadly Week on Moroccan Roads: 32 Killed, Over 1,800 Injured in Traffic Accidents

A deadly week on Moroccan roads with 32 dead and more than 1,800 injured during the week of December 17 to 23.
According to the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN), these 1,471 road accidents, which occurred in urban areas, are mainly due to driver inattention, failure to yield the right-of-way, pedestrian recklessness, speeding, lane changes without prior warning, lack of vehicle control, failure to stop, unauthorized lane changes, driving in the left lane, failure to comply with traffic lights, driving under the influence of alcohol, driving in the wrong direction and unauthorized overtaking.
During the same period, the police recorded 36,136 traffic violations and drew up 12,049 reports, while 24,087 amicable fines were collected, the same source explains.
In addition, the sums collected reached 5,318,650 dirhams, while 5,359 vehicles were impounded in the municipal pound. The police also seized 6,559 documents and removed 131 vehicles from circulation.
