Deadly Week on Moroccan Roads: 11 Killed, Nearly 2,000 Injured in Urban Traffic Accidents

The Moroccan road has killed again last week, according to the figures just released by the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN).
Thus, 11 people died and 1,956 were injured, including 73 seriously, in traffic accidents that occurred in the urban area, during the week from February 25 to March 3. The Moroccan police recorded a total of 1,478 accidents.
The causes of these accidents are known, says the DGSN, citing "the inattention of drivers, failure to give priority, speeding, the recklessness of pedestrians, failure to maintain a safe distance, changing direction without warning, loss of vehicle control, failure to stop at a stop sign, unauthorized lane change, driving under the influence of alcohol, driving in the wrong direction, failure to stop at a red light and defective overtaking".
During the same week, the police issued some 37,126 tickets and drew up 11,694 reports that were submitted to the public prosecutor’s office, while 25,432 transaction fines were collected, according to the press release, which also reports the impounding of 4,050 vehicles, the withdrawal of 7,482 documents and 162 vehicles stopped and the recovery of more than 5.7 million dirhams.
