Deadly Week on Moroccan Roads: 18 Killed, 2000+ Injured in Traffic Accidents

Another deadly week on Moroccan roads, with a total of 18 deaths and 2002 injured, according to the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN).
From February 10 to 16, 18 people died and 2002 were injured, including 92 seriously, in 1,514 traffic accidents that occurred in urban areas, according to the DGSN.
The same source cites the errors at the origin of this tragedy. Among these are driver inattention, failure to yield the right-of-way, pedestrian inattention, speeding, failure to maintain a safe distance, changing direction without using the signal, loss of vehicle control, failure to stop, unauthorized lane change, driving under the influence, driving in the left lane, improper overtaking, driving in the wrong direction and failure to obey traffic lights.
As for the control and repression of offenses, the security services issued 49,850 tickets and drew up 11,856 reports that were submitted to the public prosecutor’s office, while 37,994 transaction fines were collected.
During this period, 49,850 tickets were issued for a total of 5,028,700 dirhams, while 37,994 transaction fines were paid for a total of 7,732,875 dirhams.
