Deadly Three-Wheeler Crash in Morocco Sparks Safety Debate and Calls for Ban

A three-wheeler carrying 14 people overturned in the province of Kalaât Sraghna, causing the death of seven passengers, members of the same family. An accident that reignites the debate on the need to ban the use of these vehicles as a means of transporting people.
In a statement, the Moroccan Association for Human Rights denounced the continued use of these unsafe means of transport, blaming local authorities for their "negligence and disregard for citizens’ lives, especially the poorest."
The association emphasized that three-wheelers are involved in several road accidents, calling on authorities to strengthen control over means of transport in the region and to take action to end the use of three-wheelers as a means of transporting people.
The association also demanded the opening of a transparent and fair investigation into this accident that cost the lives of seven members of the same family, holding the Ministry of Transport and Logistics and local authorities responsible for the proliferation of these vehicles used for illegal transportation of people and to commit thefts.
