Deadly Scorpion Stings Claim 23 Lives in Morocco’s Marrakech-Safi Region

In total, scorpions have caused 23 deaths in the Marrakech-Safi region. Powerless, the residents are calling on the authorities for help.
The Marrakech-Safi region continues to record the deaths of its inhabitants stung by scorpions. The latest is that of a man living in the Kelâa Sraghna region.
The late arrival of the victim at the regional hospital led to the spread of the venom in the body of this native of Douar Rouich, in the commune of Aznada, reports the newspaper Al Akhbar.
This new tragedy brings to more than 23 the deaths related to scorpion stings in the Marrakech-Safi region, over a period of five months, more precisely from May to September 2019, according to the same source. Among the victims, there are several children.
This persistent situation is due to the lack of an antidote in the local medical centers. The inhabitants, for their part, continue to call on the competent authorities for help.
