Deadly Crash on Morocco’s Treacherous Tizi n’Tichka Road Kills 3, Injures 8

The Moroccan road has killed again. This time, it is an accident that occurred on one of the most dangerous roads in the kingdom.
3 people killed and 8 others seriously injured in a road accident, which occurred in the vicinity of Marrakech, more precisely, in Tizi n’Tichka. According to h24info, it was an illegal transport vehicle that overturned on the National Road connecting Marrakech to Ouarzazate.
The victims, all merchants, were heading to the weekly market of the commune of Zerkten in the province of Al Haouz, before the fatal impact.
A security perimeter was set up by the elements of the Civil Protection and the Royal Gendarmerie while the bodies of the victims were transported to the morgue and the injured were evacuated to the Mohammed VI University Hospital Center in Marrakech, to receive the necessary care.
An investigation has been opened to determine the exact causes and circumstances of this tragedy, which indicates that the National Road of Tizi n’Tichka is one of the most dangerous in the Kingdom. Indeed, in 2012, 42 people had perished in the region, following a bus accident.
The authorities have launched several road widening works since this tragedy, but the recklessness of users and the non-compliance with the Highway Code are the main causes of these human dramas.
