Deadly Air Strike on Libyan Migrant Center Kills 44, Including North African Nationals

An air raid targeted, on Tuesday, July 2, 2019, a migrant detention center near the Libyan capital, Tripoli. 44 people were killed, including a Moroccan and a Tunisian. A hundred refugees were also injured.
In the suburbs of Tripoli, 44 migrants were killed and 134 were injured, following the carnage caused by an air strike launched by the troops of Marshal Khalifa Haftar. A Moroccan and a Tunisian were among the victims of this massacre.
The pro-Haftar forces did not claim the air raid, accusing the allied militias in Tripoli of having bombed the camp. According to the United Nations Mission on the ground, "the toll could worsen", specifying that the bodies were lying on the floor of the hangar and that the rescue workers continued to search for survivors in the rubble.
More than 3,500 migrants and refugees are detained in detention centers very close to the combat zones. The United Nations Mission says it is "extremely concerned" about their fate and their dangerous position in the middle of the conflict zone.
