Dacia Leads Morocco’s Surging Car Market as Auto Sales Jump 22%

The Moroccan automotive market is recovering after a few months of calm with an increase of 22.01% compared to the previous year, according to data from the Association of Vehicle Importers in Morocco (AIVAM).
This increase is divided between passenger vehicles (PV), which recorded a 21.36% increase with 12,021 units sold, and light commercial vehicles (LCV), whose sales increased by 26.61% to reach 1,751 units.
In the PV segment, the Dacia brand stands out again with a market share of 23.58%, representing 2,834 units sold in November. Renault and Peugeot follow, with 2,148 and 1,147 units sold respectively.
In the LCV sector, Renault also leads with 572 units sold, followed by FIAT and DFSK. Moreover, in the premium segment, Audi dominates with 365 sales, ahead of BMW and Mercedes-Benz. Porsche also had a very good performance, with 30 units sold, an increase of 20% year-on-year.
Overall, the first eleven months of 2023 showed a slight decline in new car sales in Morocco, with a 0.9% decrease for a total of 143,986 units. The PV segment, however, saw a slight increase of 0.42%, while LCVs recorded a decline of 11.22%.
