Cycling Star Evenepoel and Wife Launch Fundraiser for Morocco Earthquake Victims

Belgian cyclist Remco Evenepoel and his wife Oumaima Oumi Rayane, of Moroccan origin, expressed their solidarity with the Moroccan people after the deadly earthquake that hit the Al Haouz province in the Marrakech region and killed 3,000 people.
The Belgian champion had shown a Moroccan flag as a sign of solidarity with the Moroccan people before the Vuelta. After this tour that he did not win, Remco and his wife Omaima Oumi Rayane, of Moroccan origin, have shown their support for the victims by organizing a fundraising campaign, the amount of which will be donated to the Flemish Red Cross.
"Today, there are already more than 3,000 dead, thousands injured and people who have lost their homes. [...] The Red Cross’s priorities are to provide assistance for basic needs such as food, water, essential household items, shelter and medical care. To start with, we are giving a basic amount (10,000 euros: editor’s note) and, with you, we hope to raise a good sum for the victims of the earthquake in Morocco. The amount is not important, every little gesture counts and I hope that together we can help these people in these difficult times," can be read on the campaign website.
To encourage as many people as possible to participate in the campaign, a contest is organized and the winners will receive prizes such as a signed helmet, shoes or jersey by Evenepoel.
