Cycling Champion Evenepoel Calls for End to Gaza Bombings on Social Media

On Instagram, Belgian cyclist Remco Evenepoel, double world time trial champion, spoke out about the war between the Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas and Israel that continues to rage in Gaza.
On Sunday, Remco Evenepoel, companion of Moroccan Oumaïma "Oumi" Rayane, shared an Instagram story post from "cestmocro". It shows photos and videos of the bombings, various tweets, as well as poignant images of suffering Palestinians. The Belgian cyclist accompanied this repost with the caption: "Please, stop," thus calling for an end to the Israeli bombings on Gaza.
This reaction from the double world time trial champion comes after the new Israeli air strikes. These targeted the Gaza Strip on Sunday, killing at least 44 people and dozens injured, according to the Civil Defense in the Palestinian territory. "The toll of the Israeli strikes since dawn stands at at least 44 dead, including 21 in Khan Younes," in the south of the Gaza Strip, said Mahmoud Bassal, spokesman for the Civil Defense.
One of the strikes killed six Palestinians in the Al-Tuffah neighborhood of the city of Gaza (north of the enclave), where a group of people had gathered near a bakery, he detailed, specifying that three children are among the dead.
