Cuba to Open Embassy in Morocco, Strengthening Diplomatic Ties

During a visit to the Moroccan capital on October 7, Cuba’s non-resident Ambassador to Morocco, Elio Eduardo Rodríguez Perdomo, announced the upcoming opening of a Cuban representation in Rabat.
Cuba’s diplomatic representation in Morocco will no longer be provided from Paris. According to TelQuel, the rapprochement between the two states will result in the upcoming opening in Rabat of a Cuban Embassy, which, according to indiscretions from the Spanish Press Agency, could be headed by Javier Dómokos Ruiz, former Consul General of Cuba in Toronto.
According to the website, it was on the sidelines of the 74th session of the UN General Assembly that the announcement of the opening of this new embassy was made, warming up relations between the two countries.
Indeed, it was in 2017 that the two countries gradually resumed their diplomatic relations, with the appointment by King Mohammed VI of Boughaleb El Attar as Morocco’s Ambassador to Cuba.
