COVID-19 Surge Prompts Night Curfew and Restrictions in Morocco’s Tétouan

Northern Morocco is in full turmoil due to the surge in Covid-19 infection cases. The residents of the city of Tétouan must face new restrictive measures in order to reverse the galloping curve of the epidemic.
Just on Thursday, October 22, 248 new cases were recorded in the Tanger-Tétouan-Al Hoceima region. In the lead is the city of Tétouan with 87 positive cases. It is followed by Tanger with 61 cases. Faced with this resurgence, the local authorities of the city of Tétouan have now instituted a night curfew from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Parks, playgrounds and neighborhood sports fields will be temporarily closed.
Gatherings of more than ten people are prohibited. Neighborhood markets must close at 5 p.m. and souks at 1 p.m. Similarly, cafes, restaurants, hammams, beauty institutes and gyms will have to close at 10 p.m.
