COVID-19 Surge Prompts 15-Day Closure of French School in Casablanca

The resurgence of Covid-19 is concerning the health authorities. In Casablanca, where the epidemiological situation in the region is not yet reassuring, the authorities have decided to close the doors of the Lycée Lyautey for 15 days.
The decision to close the French Lycée in Casablanca is a result of the conclusions of the Monitoring Commission on the epidemiological situation at the level of the Casablanca-Settat region. With the presence of Covid-19 still evident, the Commission suggested on Friday, April 2 at noon to the authorities, the closure of the Lycée Lyautey in Casablanca and consequently the suspension of face-to-face teaching, according to a press release.
The particular case of the Lycée Lyautey follows the dissemination on social networks of a video showing students crowded in the courtyard, disregarding social distancing. The teaching staff defends itself, saying that it was an educational activity that "got out of hand".
The management of the Lycée Lyautey expressed its regrets about this action that escaped the initially planned framework. As a result, it was decided to suspend face-to-face teaching at the Lycée Lyautey, starting from Friday, March 2 at noon and for 15 days.
