COVID-19 Surge Leaves School Reopening Plans in Limbo as Government Deliberates

The increase in coronavirus infections has disrupted the government’s and private school managers’ plan for the resumption of classes. This turnaround is worrying the private sector while the government maintains the suspense.
Faced with the concern of private school managers, a meeting was organized between representatives of this sector, this Saturday, with the head of government and the Minister of National Education, Higher Education and Scientific Research, reports Aujour’hui.ma. The discussions focused mainly on the resumption of classes.
After taking stock of distance learning, the private promoters opposed its choice for the next school year and demanded face-to-face courses. Contrary to the private education associations who have not yet received an answer on this specific point, these private education promoters believe that distance learning has an impact on both families and schools, not to mention the repercussions on preschool education and job stability.
As for the head of government, he promised to discuss the requests of these promoters with the officials concerned. They also received the promise that the supervisory ministry will communicate to them the method chosen for the next school year. After communicating the school calendar, the government still maintains the suspense on the choice of face-to-face or distance courses.
