Covid-19 Outbreak Linked to Large Moroccan Wedding in Germany

Several dozen people have tested positive for Covid-19 in Wiesbaden, Germany, following a celebration bringing together more than 100 guests for a Moroccan wedding.
According to local media, the newlyweds, who live in Wiesbaden, had agreed to hold the wedding ceremony on August 15 in Mainz, a neighboring city. Among the guests was a Covid-19 patient.
More than 30 people contracted the Coronavirus, the Wiesbaden health office president announced last Wednesday at a press conference, stressing that the disease is likely to spread on a large scale due to the large number of families present at the ceremony.
For a local newspaper, the new outbreak will be difficult to control, especially since the guest list for the wedding was communicated late to the health authorities. It will not be possible to slow the transmission of the virus, in the absence of rigorous contact tracing.
