COVID-19 Outbreak Infects 133 Inmates at Moroccan Prison in Ouarzazate

133 inmates have been infected by the new coronavirus at the local prison in Ouarzazate, while only one has tested positive at the local prison in Ksar El Kébir, according to information provided on Thursday by the General Delegation for Prison Administration and Reintegration (DGAPR).
These figures made public by the DGAPR are only the partial results of laboratory tests carried out on all the inmates of the local prison in Ouarzazate. The delegation assures that "the public will be informed of the results of the remaining inmate tests, as well as of the officials who will take up their duties in this institution to replace those currently working there".
The DGPAR assures that "all inmates who tested positive have been isolated in a special ward, and are subject to the treatment protocol adopted in the country". To ensure the implementation of health, security and administrative measures, a central joint committee of the DGAPR has been dispatched to the site.
Regarding the case of the local prison in Ksar El Kébir, the General Delegation noted that the tests carried out revealed the contamination of only one inmate, who has moreover been subjected to the treatment protocol in force at the hospital. Meanwhile, the five inmates who were in contact with the only case of contamination have been placed in quarantine to avoid any risk of virus spread.
