COVID-19 Deaths Rise in Morocco as Provinces Enter Phase III of Virus Spread

The resurgence of deaths in recent weeks is worrying. It would be due to the passage of certain provinces to phase III of the spread of the virus, according to the Minister of Health Khalid Ait Taleb.
In response to an oral question on "the causes of the increase in the number of deaths among infected people" before the House of Councillors, the minister recalled that these deaths are due to the increase in active cases and critical cases. According to him, the fatality rate has remained constant (1.7%).
For Khalid Ait Taleb, the deaths affect men, adults over 65 and patients suffering from chronic diseases, particularly diabetes, cancer and cardiovascular diseases. 55% of people who succumbed to the coronavirus suffered from chronic diseases, particularly diabetes, hypertension, asthma, cancer and other diseases, compared to 89% of deaths occurring in intensive care and intensive care units, he specifies.
69% of the deceased are men, generally between 40 and 65 years old.
