Ex-Convicts Arrested in Salé for Impersonating Health Officials During Lockdown

Ex-convicts, who were posing as authority auxiliaries to raise awareness about coronavirus in the city of Salé, were arrested by the police. Recidivism, usurpation of function, violation of the state of health emergency for criminal purposes are the charges against them.
The deputy head of the police station in the El Farouki district of Salé, accompanied by the caïd of Hay Karima, was surprised to see individuals in yellow vests, making contact with confined residents at night, reports Assabah. They fled as he approached them for routine identity checks.
The commissioner and his elements managed to catch two of them; the third, however, managed to escape. According to the commissioner, two of them are former criminals who have just been released from prison. Stolen items and the motorcycle they used to commit the thefts were seized during their arrest.
On Monday, the judicial police of Salé presented them before the prosecutor of the king near the court of appeal. A wanted notice has been issued against the third.
