Controversy Erupts Over Moroccan Real Estate Ad Offering School 'With Students'

In Morocco, a real estate agent finds himself at the center of a controversy after posting an ad to sell a private school, including the students.

"Private school for sale in Kenitra. Area 412 square meters, number of students 373, has three facades. Net profit 130,000 dirhams per month, price 6.4 million dirhams." This ad, posted in a space dedicated to transactions on Facebook by a real estate agent, provokes a flood of reactions on social networks. "One day, we will see our children taken hostage by one of these billionaires," rages an Internet user. Another uses irony: "I thought human trafficking was in the Jahilia (pre-Islamic period)." Other Internet users continue: "Not surprising in Morocco where everything is for sale, especially boys and girls," "This is quite normal since some private schools and clinics in Morocco consider their clients as merchandise."

Faced with the controversy, the ad was removed. Contacted by the Al Arabiya channel, Mohamed Seddiki, the real estate agent who posted the ad, is surprised by the wave of reactions. "It’s just a mistake, nothing more," he assures, acknowledging that he lacked the mention "capacity" in his text.
