Controversial Song Sparks Legal Action Over Portrayal of Moroccan Women Students

Artist Cheb Imran, author of the song "Bnat Al-Jamiaa" (The girls of the university), is the subject of a complaint filed with the competent judicial authorities. The plaintiff, a university professor, believes that this song undermines the image of the Moroccan woman in general and female students in particular.
In her complaint, the university professor requested the opening of a serious and responsible investigation into the circumstances surrounding the dissemination of this song and that its author be found guilty of undermining the image of the Moroccan woman and female students.
The controversial song was posted on social media last month by popular music singer Cheb Imran, residing in Europe. Many Internet users consider the lyrics as an attack on the image of female students.
The plaintiff, who is also a member of the Higher Council of Education, Training and Scientific Research, expressed her attachment to the respect of the Moroccan woman and female students in particular, recalling that the university is a place of high training for women.
Undermining the value of the Moroccan woman is a "red line" that must not be crossed, insisted the researcher-teacher, who also called on women’s and students’ rights defense associations to intervene in this case.
