Contract Teachers in Morocco Strike, Demand Integration into Civil Service

Contract teachers are observing a strike from January 28 to 31 to demand serious dialogue with the supervisory authority. The strike will be accompanied by a national march, scheduled for January 29 in Casablanca.
In a statement, the National Coordination of Contract Teachers announces this 72-hour outburst of anger, to protest against the policy of deaf ears, led by the Ministry of National Education. The supervisory authority does not seem in a hurry to find a favorable outcome to the main demand concerning the cancellation of the contract recruitment system and the integration of contract teachers into the civil service, the report said.
The ministry is also accused of having "failed to keep all the promises made to unblock this file". Contract teachers also denounce the lack of family allowances and allowances for working in remote areas.
They thus call on the supervisory department to engage in serious dialogue in order to examine the means of implementing the commitments of the April 13 agreement and to cancel the contractualization system, according to the same source.
