UK Considers Adding Morocco to Green Travel List Amid COVID Uncertainty

Morocco could be on the list of green countries to which the British could travel this summer. However, the United Kingdom has not yet authorized travel abroad due to the worrying spread of Covid-19 variants.
In a statement to the press, Prime Minister Boris Johnson warned Britons not to book summer holidays, as the ban on foreign travel may not be lifted on May 17 due to the risk of importing coronavirus variants. "[...] Given the state of the pandemic abroad and the progress of vaccination programs in other countries, we are not able to confirm that non-essential international travel can resume from [May 17]," he said.
The UK Prime Minister’s roadmap indicates that it is too early to say which countries will be on the "green list". According to a new analysis by the travel consultancy The PC Agency, traditional holiday destinations such as France, Italy, Greece, Spain and Croatia are unlikely to be on this first list due to low vaccination rates in Europe. In contrast, countries such as Portugal, Israel, the United Arab Emirates, Gibraltar, the United States, Canada and Morocco could be allowed.
