Cold Snap Hits Morocco: Temperatures Near Freezing, Snow Expected in Atlas Mountains

A cold day is expected this Wednesday, March 25, 2020 in Morocco, with temperatures close to 0 degrees and some snow flurries in places.

Since the return of thunderstorms and snowfall, the cold weather has settled in several regions of Morocco.

This Tuesday, the sky will be partly cloudy, with scattered showers and sometimes thunderstorms on the Middle Atlas, the Rif, the Northwest, the Oriental and probably the southeastern slopes and some snow flurries in the morning on the peaks of the Middle Atlas.

DMN forecasts in the morning minimum temperatures of around -2 degrees to 4 degrees on the Atlas mountains, 4 degrees to 9 degrees on the Rif, the Oriental, the phosphate and Oulmès plateaus as well as on the southeastern slopes and 9 and 15 degrees elsewhere in the Kingdom.

In the afternoon, temperatures will rise slightly to reach 7 to 12 degrees on the Atlas, the Rif and the Oriental, 12 to 17 degrees on the Mediterranean, the Tangier region and the Oulmès plateaus, 17 to 22 degrees on the Saiss, the northern and central plains, the phosphate plateaus, the southeastern slopes and near the Atlantic coasts and 22 to 27 degrees on the interior of the Souss, the far southeast and the southern provinces.
