CNN Spotlights Tétouan and Meknès as Morocco's Hidden Gems for 2024 Travel

Morocco is one of the destinations to prioritize for the year 2024, according to the American television channel CNN, which has just highlighted two Moroccan cities.

The "Travel" section of the media highlights the unique charm of the country, with a special mention for less well-known cities such as Tétouan and Meknès. These, although less frequented than popular destinations like Marrakech, Rabat and Fez, are considered just as captivating.

CNN praises Morocco for its diverse landscape and impressive architecture. The country has managed to recover from a devastating earthquake that occurred last September. The emphasis is placed on selection criteria such as ease of travel, respect for ecotourism and the discovery of less frequented places. The channel points out that while tourists tend to congregate in popular cities, Morocco offers a multitude of less known but equally attractive sites.

The channel notes that Tétouan and Meknès, two of Morocco’s nine UNESCO World Heritage sites, are particularly recommended. These cities illustrate the cultural and historical richness of the country. In addition, Morocco is recognized as a global leader in sustainable tourism, thanks to initiatives encouraging renewable energy production and the presence of significant eco-friendly hotels.

Finally, CNN observes a significant recovery in global tourism, with an increase of nearly 90% compared to pre-pandemic levels in 2023. This has led to increased crowds in the most popular destinations. The American media encourages exploring lesser-known places, attractive off-season or often overlooked.
