Club Med to Reopen First Resort in China as Global Operations Slowly Resume

Club Med wants to cautiously resume its activities, after a period of stoppage due to the coronavirus. In this sense, the company is repatriating its employees from Morocco.
"In the tourism world, Club Med had been used to a number of geopolitical and climatic difficulties and crises; but this one is exceptional since it has led us to close all our clubs in the world. (...) The good news is that we will reopen our first club next week in China," said its president, Henri Giscard d’Estaing, on BFM Business on Friday.
This announcement of reopening is justified by a slow but progressive recovery of the Chinese economy. According to him, the first signals show a desire to live again (of the Chinese), after the very hard confinement period they have undergone. "With our partner Fosun, we have a large facility in southern China, a large resort, Atlantis, and it had an occupancy rate last weekend higher than last year at the same date," said the Club Med president.
Club Med also plans to reopen in Europe. "But when exactly? It’s too early to say. I think the summer should be a first period, with probably a tendency to travel a little less far at the start [...], and then, gradually, travel will pick up again," projected Henri Giscard d’Estaing.
