A classy gesture: Eliesse Ben Seghir at the bedside of an injured supporter in the infirmary

A Moroccan supporter, injured in a crowd surge after the Atlas Lions qualified for the AFCON final, met striker Eliesse Ben Seghir in the stadium infirmary. The player took the opportunity to chat with the fan and offer him his jacket.

The supporter, who had come from Burgundy to attend the semi-final against Nigeria, suffered a dislocated collarbone during the celebrations following Youssef En-Nesyri’s winning penalty, he told RMC. He was taken care of by the emergency services in the stands of the Prince Moulay Abdellah stadium in Rabat and was transferred to the stadium’s internal clinic to have his shoulder put back in place.

While he was receiving treatment, the young man saw Eliesse Ben Seghir arrive in the treatment room. The Leverkusen striker had come to the site after the final whistle to greet and thank the medical staff who had been mobilized during the match. Alerted to the presence of an injured fan, the player stopped to inquire about his health.

During this exchange, Ben Seghir gave his jacket to the supporter as a show of support. The fan took the opportunity of this unexpected meeting to thank the player for the national team’s run and to encourage him ahead of the final. The Moroccan international reiterated the group’s ambition to win the trophy for the Moroccan people.

The medical staff confirmed that the supporter, although immobilized with his arm in a sling, was able to leave the infirmary after the doctors’ intervention. Despite his injury, the fan said he intended to follow the final on Sunday, hoping to witness the historic coronation of the Atlas Lions.
