City Club CEO Arrested in Morocco on Drug, Fraud, and Trafficking Allegations

Arrested on Saturday in a large hotel in Casablanca, under a national arrest warrant, Jonathan Harroch, CEO of City Club, could be prosecuted for "issuing checks without provision", "human trafficking" and "drug trafficking".
Jonathan Harroch was arrested by the Casablanca police in the company of two young women, with 2.5 grams of cocaine on him. In May, "Tata Hala", a Moroccan influencer residing in France, made damning revelations about the businessman and called for a boycott of City Club on social networks through the hashtag #BoycottCityClub. She denounced the alleged fraudulent and abusive practices that would be commonplace in Harroch’s empire.
Harroch is accused of disturbing physical and verbal assaults, harassment, tax evasion, abusive layoffs, non-payment of salaries. "Harroch sees himself as the pharaoh of Morocco," Hala said, describing his authoritarian behavior towards staff. Accusations denied by the businessman. He has also sued his critics, accusing them of defamation and claiming that the accusations against him are unfounded. He also stated that City Club was ready to fully cooperate with the authorities.
The public prosecutor’s office is expected to decide on Monday on the release or extension of Harroch’s pre-trial detention. He could be prosecuted for "issuing checks without provision", "human trafficking" and "drug trafficking".
