Church Scandal Erupts: Victims Demand Answers in Cross-Continental Priest Abuse Case

A support collective for victims of a priest who was indicted and incarcerated for "aggravated sexual assaults" on May 30, 2025 is calling out the dioceses of Dijon and Rabat.
In an open letter, a support collective for victims of Father Yves Grosjean denounces the "silences" of the dioceses of Dijon and Rabat after having written to several bishops during the summer. This priest was indicted and then incarcerated for "aggravated sexual assaults" on May 30, 2025. He has admitted to four sexual assaults on minors. But the number of alleged victims is high: the collective says it has identified sixteen. However, the association believes that the number of victims could be much higher. It is therefore trying to find the young people who may have been in contact with the priest, in Rabat and Dijon.
According to the collective, Father Yves Grosjean was "exfiltrated" to Rabat in 2017 following an initial complaint, which was later dismissed. Targeted by new accusations in the kingdom this time, he left Morocco for France in 2024. In November of the same year, the priest was banned "from any ministry with minors," according to the Diocese of Dijon, following a complaint from a young man for acts dating back to 2010. This complaint led to his indictment in Dijon for "aggravated sexual assaults" and his incarceration last May. Three other complaints have been filed.
The authors of this letter, addressed in particular to the archbishops of Dijon, Antoine Hérouard, and Rabat, Cristobal Lopez Romero, seek to know whether actions have been "taken to avoid contact with young people in Rabat," as well as in the Dijon region since 2024. They also want to know if "reports" have been made in Rabat and if the priest’s background has been communicated to Rome and the Christnacht Commission tasked with assessing pedocriminality within the institution. The collective also demands "the list of all the accompaniments" made by the father "in the presence of young people."
