Chinese E-commerce Giant Temu Enters Moroccan Market with Low-Price Strategy

Temu, the Chinese giant of e-commerce, has been established in Morocco since April 2nd. The group offers low prices in order to establish itself in the Moroccan market already conquered by competitors like Jumia.
Created in 2022 and present in 60 countries on six continents, Temu has quietly settled in the Moroccan market, reveals Jeune Afrique. The group intends to offer Moroccan consumers the possibility to source directly from manufacturers, without intermediaries and at prices defying all competition.
"The online sales platform hopes to attract customers by highlighting its catalog made up of about thirty categories, each containing as many references. A strategy of diversifying the offer that should allow it to become quickly known on this market," informs the magazine.
Temu was created by Pinduoduo (PDD), number one in online sales in China with its 850 million monthly users. Created since 2015 and listed on the Nasdaq in New York, Pinduoduo has accumulated 7.6 billion euros in profits and a turnover of 31.7 billion euros in 2023. It now has 50 million monthly visitors in the United States and about 75 million in Europe.
