Child Rescued After 40-Foot Fall into Abandoned Well in Morocco’s Al Hoceima Province

A 12-year-old child, who fell into an abandoned well 12 meters deep, in one of the douars of the commune of Louta in the province of Al Hoceima, was rescued on Friday by civil protection elements.
The child was playing with his friends near the well and accidentally fell inside, according to local sources cited by Akhbarona. Alerted, elements of the Royal Gendarmerie and civil protection quickly went to the scene and proceeded to rescue the minor. After being extracted from the well, the seriously injured child was urgently transported to the regional hospital of Al Hoceima to receive the necessary care.
The inhabitants of the city have called on the authorities to act quickly and take the appropriate measures to secure the wells in the region in order to limit the cases of falls in these wells. This incident recalls that of the young Rayan which had aroused the compassion of the national and international public opinion two years ago.
